KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Professor Mouloud Denaï is a Professor in Electric Power and Control. He graduated from the University of Science and Technology of Algiers and National Polytechnic School of Algiers, Algeria in Electrical Engineering and received his PhD in Control Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK. He worked for the University of Science and Technology of Oran (Algeria) until 2004 and the University of Sheffield (UK) from 2004 to 2010. From 2010 to 2014, he worked for the University of Teesside (UK), from 2014 to 2023, he worked with the University of Hertfordshire (UK), since 2023 he has joined the Higher School of Electrical Engineering and Energetics of Oran (Algeria). His current research focuses on modelling, optimisation, and control of energy systems. His research interests in energy include intelligent control design and computational intelligence techniques applications for efficiency optimisation of renewable energy systems with particular focus in the energy management of smart homes and dynamic scheduling, optimisation and control of future smart grids. His other research focus is in condition monitoring and asset management in modern electric power networks; Energy storage systems integration into the grid; Smart meter data analytics using machine learning for efficient energy management; Peer-to-Peer (P2P) energy transaction; Electric vehicles integration in the distribution grid (V2G and G2V) and charging management; Dynamic wireless charging of electric vehicles: Optimisation and infrastructure management.
Emerging Energy Storage Technologies and Applications
Professor Alessio Ansuini is a theoretical physicist and research technologist at AREA Science Park in Trieste, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, statistical physics and its applications to science and technology. His research focuses on the theoretical and computational analysis of representations in deep neural networks, with particular interest in their geometry, intrinsic dimensionality and the emergence of abstractions.
Before joining AREA Science Park in 2019, he carried out interdisciplinary research at SISSA across neurobiology, cognitive neuroscience, physics and machine learning. His work has appeared in venues including NeurIPS, Current Biology, Science Advances and Bioinformatics. He holds a PhD in Physics from Sapienza University of Rome and has taught Deep Learning at the University of Trieste since 2020, alongside teaching activities in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
From Representations to World Models: Building AI-Ready Abstractions for Complex Systems
Professor Nassim Boudaoud is an associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), France, he currently serves as Head of the Data and Reliability for Industry specialization within the Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a member of the Industrial Engineering research team at the Roberval Research Laboratory. He obtained his Engineering degree from the École Nationale Polytechnique (ENP), Algiers, in 1993, followed by a PhD in Systems Control from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC) in 1997. In the same year, he joined UTC as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. From 2003 to 2021, he was responsible for the Reliability and Quality for Industry Master’s program. He was also a member of the French Statistical Society (Société Française de Statistique – SFdS) from 1999 to 2002. From 2015 to 2025, he served as Vice-President of RUFEREQ, the French network for Reliability and Quality. His main research interests and areas of expertise include process and product robustness, with a particular focus on design of experiments, statistical process control for connected industrial systems, data analysis, machine learning, and predictive maintenance.
